DB: 2-0 to end the weekend in Skåne.
With the energy and excitement of Falkenhallen to help pump up RIG B, it seemed consistency and confidence was on their side today!
Day two of the double header weekend for RIG B was against Falkenberg. The last time RIG met them, it was a strong win for RIG with 3-0. Today, control and calm stayed with RIG, but an exciting second set put a spin on the match.
Set 1 did not start well for RIG B. There were attack and service errors on both sides, however RIG was put behind 3-5. There was a back and forth exchange of points until 10-13 to Falkenberg. From this point, we saw 3 errors from the opponents and 5 earned points from RIG, bringing them ahead, 18-10. Outside attacker Ida Viking showed early on she was not a spiker to underestimate, with strong kills from block out, being her go to this set. With the help of setter Lisa Pettersson's all out defence, set 1 ended 25-21.
Set 2 was the most even set of the match. Opposite attacker Maja Heden really shined this set with many great kills and 2 service aces. There were few big runs from either team, but the real excitement began at the end of the set. When it seemed RIG was going to lose early, outside attacker Maja Stenman went back to serve. With help from middle blocker Sandra Abrahamsson, recording 3 kills, Maja Stenman with one serve ace and falkenberg giving up two own errors, RIG was back in from 19-24 to 25-24. With heated rallies and energy on high, the fight for the win went back and forth. With two straight kills from Falkenbergs outside, the set was over 28-30.
Set 3 began with an early lead for RIG with 6-2. Unfortunately the lead disappeared after two RIG service errors, a service ace from falkenberg and an attack error from RIG, tieing up the game. With one kill a piece coming from middle blocker Klara Juneholm and Ida Viking, RIG was back on track. With steady serve recieve from libero Filippa Brink, the end seemed a lot more achievable. With one small dip in the end, RIG was able to turn it back around to close out the game, 25-19.
Set 4. From the start of set 3 to this point, RIG had established serve targets and were going after them, consistently. They stabilized falkenbergs middles and were now able to focus more on blocking their opponents attackers at the pins. RIG's block was on point through out the match, but to finish the match on a good block is sometimes the most fun way to end. Middle blocker Klara Juneholm achieved this today, with a game winning block. Final score 25-9.
Looking forward to the parents weekend coming up! Back to work this week. Heja RIG!
